February 21, 2016, Second Sunday of Lent

News and Notes:  Don’t forget our Music Ministry concert this Sunday February 21 at St. Maria Goretti Church beginning at 2PM.  Free-will offerings are welcome and encouraged, with all donated funds going to support the Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative Music Ministry.  Thanks to Jayson Cote, and all our vocalists and musicians for their work in preparing for this concert, and for their ministry that enhances our liturgical prayer week after week.  As you may know, we are providing two books this year for your Lenten reading: the popular Little Black Book which contains daily Scripture passages and reflections inspired by the late Bishop Kenneth Untener to ponder and pray over in our journey to Easter; and Matthew Kelly’s latest book, Beautiful Mercy, which offers a series of thought-provoking short essays on the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.  The latter book comes to us by virtue of a generous donation.    Next Saturday, St. Maria’s will be hosting a Pasta Dinner in the Church Hall following the 4PM Mass…please sign up if you would like to join us for good food and fellowship.  If you have not yet made a commitment to our Development Campaign on behalf of your particular parish, please consider doing so in the near future.  We need a boost in our parishes’ Offertory which pays our ordinary expenses, and sufficient funds to undertake major capital improvement projects, the most urgent of which are the heating system at SMG and the front stairs and doors of OLA Church.  Blessings to all of you in the Lenten days ahead!
