February 2, 2014, Presentation of the Lord

News and Notes:  Monday, February 3 is the Feast of St. Blaise, a day in which the Church offers the Blessing of Throats. Priests have the option of praying this blessing over the whole assembly at the conclusion of Masses this weekend.  If you wish to have you throat blessed individually, come to the daily Mass on Monday morning 2/3 at 7AM at St. Maria’s or at a prayer service on Monday at 9AM at Our Lady’s for our school children and others who attend.  We had our first Collaborative Parish Pastoral Council meeting on Monday, January 13 at OLA.  The Council consists of seven representatives from each parish:  Chris Barrett, Michelle Cullinane, Jim Fagan, Donna Hegan, Beverly Merritt, Dennis Rogers, and Mike Tetrault from St. Maria’s; and Susan Ardizzoni, Mark Ferri, Diane Jenkins, Karen McGarrahan, Len Morrison, Kevin Smith and Lisa Whelan from Our Lady’s.  The ex-officio members of the new PPC are Fr. Tony and I, Deacon Tom O’Shea and Donna Delahanty, our Pastoral Associate who serves as the Director of Parish Ministries for the Collaborative.  The Council chose Chris Barrett as its Vice-Chair and Susan Ardizzoni as the Council Secretary.  Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12 at 7PM at the OLA offices on Grove Street.  If you have any input for the Council meeting, feel free to contact any representative.  Parishioners are welcome to attend the meeting as observers.  Minutes of the meetings will be posted on our website.  To anticipate the celebration of World Day of the Sick (February 11), the priests will offer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick after both 4PM Saturday Masses next weekend and the 10AM Sunday Mass at St. Maria’s and 11AM Mass at Our Lady’s.  Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
