August 12, 2018. Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time.

News and Notes:

OLA Feast Day Celebration... Continuing our wonderful Collaborative tradition of reciprocal hospitality marking our parishes’ feast days, SMG parishioners will host a brunch in the OLA Church Hall following the 11AM Mass this Sunday, August 12 to celebrate the coming feast of Our Lady of the Assumption.  Everyone is welcome!

Holy Day Mass Schedule... This week,  we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation, with Masses at the following times and churches:

Tuesday, August 14 at 4PM (OLA)

Wednesday, August 15 at 7AM (SMG); at 9AM (OLA); and at 7PM (SMG)

A collection for the support of our parishes will take place at all these liturgies.

OLA Chimney Challenge and SMG Stairs Challenge... Many thanks to OLA parishioners who have donated $4,300 as of July 26 to the Chimney Challenge!  Your donation will help us rebuild the cracked and leaking chimney on the side of the Collaborative Office Building on Grove Street.  Our goal is to raise $10,000 by Labor Day so we can get the construction work done before the winter season.  You can send your donation in any amount to 17 Grove Street.  Checks can be made out to OLA Parish with Chimney Challenge in the memo line.

I respectfully ask SMG parishioners to consider making a donation to the Stairs Challenge, to help us repair the chipped, displaced stairs on the side of the Collaborative Rectory, the broken bricks and peeling wall near the garden area at the bottom of the stairs, and some recently discovered cracks in the foundation of the Rectory.  All this work has been completed to ensure safety but we now need to pay a total of $9,100 for this work.  I have donated $1,000 and invite parishioners to join me by making a contribution in any amount to SMG with Stairs Challenge in the memo line, and sending it to 112 Chestnut Street as soon as you can.

With gratitude to all for your generous and faithful stewardship and wishing you blessings in the week ahead, Fr. Paul
