April 16, 2017. Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord.

News and Notes:  Many thanks to all those who had any part in making our Easter Triduum a beautiful liturgical celebration of our faith in Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection.  Special thanks go to Jayson Cote and our music ministry, and all those who decorated our churches for Holy Week.  On behalf of Fr. Tony, I want to thank you for your generous offering to this weekend’s Clergy Fund collection, which helps our local Church care for the health and well-being of its retired diocesan priests.  We priests dedicate our lives in service of the faithful to whom the bishop sends us.  It is our responsibility to celebrate the sacraments, preach and teach the Word of God given to us in Scripture and our wider Catholic Tradition, and offer pastoral care to the portion of the God’s people entrusted to us.  Almost four years now into our assignment as the priests of the two parishes in the Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative, Fr. Tony and I continue to be very grateful for your prayers and support. 

Join us for a special Divine Mercy Sunday event next Sunday, April 23, from 2:00-3:30PM at St. Maria Goretti Church.  This service will consist of an opportunity for confession, the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Eucharistic Adoration, a few talks and beautiful music, all in honor of the twentieth century mystic St. Maria Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun who was the recipient of a series of private revelations of Divine Mercy. 

An Easter update on our performance in the 2017 Catholic Appeal thus far:  as of April 3, OLA parishioners had pledged $48,581, or 82% of their goal of $59,211; SMG parishioners had pledged $26,360 or 77% of their goal of $34,347.  If you have not made a pledge to the Catholic Appeal as of yet, please do so by filling out one of the pledge cards in the pews or at the entrances of our churches, and help us achieve and even exceed your respective parish’s goal.
