April 12, 2915. Second Sunday of Easter. Divine Mercy Sunday.

News and Notes:  Thanks to Lynn Walton for supplying our parishes with Divine Mercy cards to help us pray this devotion in honor of our merciful Redeemer, a devotion stemming from the mystical encounters and meditations of Saint Mary Faustina Kowalska.  I encourage everyone to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, which Sister Faustina developed for a threefold purpose:  to obtain Christ’s mercy; to trust in Christ’s mercy; and to show Christ’s mercy to others.  Thanks to all those who helped decorate our churches for the Easter Triduum and Season.  Special thanks to Fr. Tony, Francis Pham, Louise Pelligrino and Kathy Lucey for their contributions to preparing our liturgical environment so well for worship.  Thanks also to our Jayson Cote and everyone else who participated with their voice or instrument in our music ministry throughout Holy Week…the music was beautiful and uplifting.  Our gratitude also goes out to Donna Delahanty, our Director of Parish Ministries, for accompanying our adults on their journey to the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.  We surely owe a word of thanks to Angela Siraco for hosting a reception after the Easter Vigil at OLA, a wonderful way to celebrate the conclusion of our Triduum in the Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative.  Join us for a farewell social in honor of Deacon Rick Lesser next Saturday, April 18 after the 4PM Mass at OLA.  It is in the form of a Pasta Dinner and the cost is $10 per person.  Deacon Rick will be with us until the weekend of May 2-3.  He will be ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Albany, NY on Saturday, June 6.

Here is an update on our Winter Relief collections and the 2015 Catholic Appeal in both parishes as of March 31:

Winter Relief:

  • SMG-$28,446
  • OLA -$25,297

2015 Catholic Appeal:

  • SMG $12,600-(45% of their annual parish goal of $28,078)
  • OLA $25,030-(45% of their annual parish goal of $55,512)

Your generous donation to each of these worthy causes is most welcome.  Thank you for your faithful stewardship of our parishes.  Blessings to all of you in week ahead!
